CPDRC Jail Dance Group: 441st Founding Anniversary Program

The CPDRC Dance Group (Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center) will perform tomorrow, August 14, 2010, for the 441st Founding Anniversary Program. The CPDRC field area will showcase another new moves and choreographed dance routines that was started with the late Michael Jackson's "Thriller" last 2007.

Yes, this is a late post but I want to have the group be a part of this blog as they are one of the finest individuals that have the Cebu City known to various countries. This is unusual happening as a part of the Cebu community, we did not expect that they become big. Thanks for the popular giant streaming site "YouTube" that help spread their abilities in dance routines.

Quick Beginnings: As it was started as an exercise program for an hour a day, Byron F. Garcia who was the head of the prison cell, saw how the prisoners look good in the yard, lined up and exercising simultaneously. As inspired by the movie "The Shawshank Redemption" when the prisoners got on the field listening to Mozart's sound, he got an idea to have them dance on the field with popular music. So he started it with, shall we say "macho" music, like the oldies "YMCA", "In the Navy", etc., so that prisoners would be comfortable to dance. And that's it, have them dance the popular Michael Jackson's "Thriller", upload it on "YouTube", then they become stars.

I wonder how they would look if I would watch them LIVE?? Hmmmm, I'm at work tomorrow so I'll just wait for the next big event again. ;-( By the way, if you want to support here are the details of the event for tomorrow.
